About the Program

Welcome to the digital revolution! Facebook, social media, digital images and Big Data are changing our world at a rapid pace. The degree program forms an interface between the humanities and social sciences and information technology. The concept crosses over subject boundaries and is interdisciplinary. Available areas of specialization are "Language and Text", "Visual Media", and "Society and Space". During your studies you will deal with concepts and technologies of digitalization and acquire fundamental knowledge of the content, theory and methods of digital humanities and social sciences, theoretical and practical knowledge of information technology, and sound professional and methodological skills in dealing with digital technologies in society. Individual study topics include: (Object-oriented) programming, processing and handling data securely, handling networks, handling databases and markup languages (SQL, XML, DTD, UML), statistical analysis and machine learning, web technologies, and knowledge for responsible handling of digital data.
