About the Program

The Master's programme in Development Economics offers research-oriented teaching that covers theoretical as well as empirical issues in economic development. It provides a wide range of courses in topics related to economic and agroeconomic issues in developing countries. The programme is very internationally oriented with a diverse student body and lecturers that specialise in different regions across the world. Students can specialise in either quantitative economics or agricultural economics. The programme includes the possibility of a semester abroad. It prepares graduates for roles in government agencies, development organisations, international organisations, policy research institutions, multinational companies, or further education at the Ph.D. level. The curriculum consists of compulsory modules (18 credits), compulsory elective modules (42 credits), specialization modules (12 credits), elective modules (18 credits), and a master's thesis (30 credits). The program also offers double degree opportunities with the University of Florence (Italy), University of Clermont Auvergne (France), and a joint collaborative programme with Stellenbosch University (South Africa).
