About the Program

This is a teaching degree program for German (Deutsch) at secondary schools (Lehramt an Sekundarschulen). The program combines subject-specific education in German studies with pedagogical training. The academic training for the German subject is conducted together with Bachelor's and Master's students at the Germanic Institute and covers the entire breadth of the field: literary studies and linguistics. In the didactic training, alongside 'classic' seminars in language, literature, and media didactics, block seminars have been established where integrated work is done on a broad range of topics - from Harry Potter, Tintenherz or Tschick to Faust, Hamlet or Nathan. Students choose German either as Subject I (80 credit points) or Subject II (75 credit points) and must combine it with another teaching subject.
