About the Program

The Cyber Security and Business (CSB) program focuses on protecting companies and organizations from cyber threats in our globally networked world. The program provides expertise in IT security, teaching students to understand threats, conduct forensic analyses, and develop protective measures. It also covers economic expertise for cost-benefit analysis of security measures and legal expertise for implementing security standards in compliance with regulations. The program is unique as it's the only state university in Germany offering a degree combining cyber security and business aspects. It has an international focus with English as the language of instruction and includes a mobility semester for studying abroad. The program structure consists of 6 semesters with a choice of three specializations from the 3rd semester onwards: Forensics, Critical Infrastructure and Key Resources (CIKR), and Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT). The curriculum includes Computer Science Fundamentals (general computer science, mathematics, programming), IT security (IT security, IT security in law and society, secure systems, network and system security, cryptology, IT security management project, emergency preparedness and emergency management, IoT security, social engineering), Data and systems (statistics, databases, cloud IT, web applications/software architecture, mobile devices, networks), Business and law (introduction to business administration, digital economy, IT law and data protection, norms, standards and certification), and General competences (foreign languages, academic work). The program includes a mobility semester in the 4th semester, a 12-week specialized internship in the 5th semester, and a Bachelor thesis in the 6th semester.
