Cross-cultural Romance Studies

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Master's program "Cross-cultural Romance Studies" at JGU allows students to choose between the focus areas of literary studies and linguistics in a Romance language (French, Spanish or Italian), each from the perspective of interculturality with interdisciplinary, partly media-oriented components. Previously acquired knowledge in a Romance core subject will be expanded and deepened through practical competencies in the field of cultural and language mediation. In addition, the program aims to impart specialist knowledge and methodological competence in another Romance language or literature and to provide access to current Romance studies research. The intercultural program focuses on the Romance culture in which the Bachelor's degree was obtained (RC1). In addition, content from another Romance culture (RC2) is taught, which was not the subject of the Bachelor's program.
