About the Program

The mastery of engineering methods in dealing with IT problems is at the centre of the course. The educational objective of the Bachelor's degree programme is to impart sound knowledge of IT systems with regard to their logical structure and functions. The computer scientist should also be familiar with the most important techniques of software development at the various levels (from the user-oriented, problem-oriented level to the machine-oriented, device-oriented level), with their use in system and application development and with IT organisation. In order to solve problems with the help of EDP, in-depth knowledge from other disciplines (e.g. mathematics, business administration, organisation and management) is also generally required. The subject matter is taught in close relation to practice in seminar-based teaching, practical courses, seminars and study projects. The Bachelor's degree programme comprises 7 semesters. The first part of the programme lasts 2 semesters. It essentially teaches the basics of computer science, mathematics and programming. The five-semester second stage of the programme includes the core subjects of computer science as well as application-related subject areas.
