About the Program

Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBI) deals with the modification of substances through chemical, physical and biological processes. As a link between chemistry and biology as well as apparatus and plant construction, the task of chemical and bioengineers is to implement the processes for substance modification (e.g. syntheses) developed in the laboratory on a production scale. This requires knowledge of the natural sciences (chemistry, biology, physics and mathematics) and engineering. The program teaches students to develop bioreactors, understand industrial processes, improve industrial processes, and learn about thermochemical energy storage. In the first 4 semesters, students acquire basics from natural sciences and engineering, followed by implementation and deepening in relevant areas in later semesters. The Bachelor's thesis in the last semester enables students to solve problems independently in the field.
