Celtic Studies Combined BachelorCombined Celtic Studies

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

In this major subject, you will learn the Celtic languages of Old Irish and Middle Welsh, which emerged more than one thousand years ago and – at least as far as Welsh is concerned – are still spoken today in parts of Great Britain. As your studies continue, these language skills will enable you to understand and analyse medieval original texts from these cultural regions and to put them into their cultural and literary historical context. In addition to work with texts from various periods and different types of text, the major subject focuses on issues of text interpretation relating to both philology and literary theory/history. The program prepares students for careers in adult education, library science, publishing, cultural mediation, language teaching, and public relations.
