About the Program

This master's programme offered at the Friedrich Schiller University is unique in Europe and provides expert knowledge of the Caucasus region on a highly individual level of supervision. It consists of a linguistic and sociocultural focus and may be profiled in the direction of Political Science, European Ethnology / Cultural History, Religious Studies, Southeast European Studies, Slavonic Studies or Indo-European Studies. Students are required to spend one semester at a different institution: either in Halle (with a focus on Armenian studies) or at one of our partner universities in the Caucasus, for example in Tbilisi, Georgia. This master's programme is the only one of its kind in Germany. In addition to the core courses, students have a wide variety of fields in which they can create their own concentrations, such as history, linguistics, political science, or religious studies.
