About the Program

Catholic theology is the science of the Christian faith. The focus of the course is on the argumentative examination of the phenomena of religion and faith, the biblically guaranteed Judeo-Christian tradition, the history of Christianity, Christian practice in society, church and school as well as interreligious issues. Students acquire biblical-historical, systematic-theological and practical-theological skills. Research focuses on Jewish-Christian dialogue, biblical hermeneutics, ecumenical theology, bioethics, religious socialization, upbringing and education, religious development in the second half of life and selected fields of religious didactics. The program consists of a six-semester Bachelor of Vocational Education followed by a four-semester Master of Vocational Education. Students are required to combine a vocational specialization with a general education subject.
