About the Program

Biotechnology engineers are specialists at the intersection of natural sciences and engineering. They analyze biological processes in cells in order to develop and optimize technical production processes based on these findings. Based on their fundamental knowledge of mathematics and natural sciences, as well as their expertise in bioprocesses, bioanalytics, and pharmaceutical issues, students learn to solve tasks and problems in the interdisciplinary field of biotechnology/biopharmaceutical technology using scientific methods, to analyze new scientific findings, critically evaluate them, and apply them in professional practice. They acquire the ability to work creatively, independently, and responsibly in scientific research. In the Elective area, two profile fields are offered, allowing for a specialization in process sciences or molecular biotechnology. Graduates find their primary fields of activity in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, chemical, and diagnostics industries, in research institutions, with service providers, or in plant engineering companies.
