About the Program

The Biotechnology Master's program prepares students for careers in biotechnology research and industry. The program deepens knowledge in molecular and cell biology, bioanalytics, and bioprocess engineering acquired during bachelor studies, and expands it with specializations in protein analytics, bioinformatics, molecular ecology, and methods for studying marine resources and chemistry. The program has a special focus on marine biotechnology, offering insights into the marine environment which has great potential for obtaining new active substances and sustainable solutions for human nutrition. In the third semester, students complete their thesis as part of a research project, which can be done in companies or research institutions domestically or abroad. Graduates are able to work independently in scientific and application-oriented fields, across disciplines, and critically evaluate scientific findings.
