Bionics

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

Bionics is a field that combines biology and engineering (technics), also known as biomimetics in English. The core principle is learning from nature to understand principles behind natural constructions and transfer them to technological systems. The Master's program at HSRW offers three specializations: Bioinspired Robotics (focusing on biomimetic intelligence and autonomy in robotic systems), Biomaterials Science (focusing on smart materials, lightweight structures and functionalised surfaces), and Biomimetics (focusing on the core of biomimetics and biological transformation). The program is designed in blocks including core skills, specialization-specific content, and a final research project and thesis. Graduates develop abilities to identify, analyze, and find solutions for scientific and technical tasks, and are prepared to work in teams and projects. As with all programs at Rhine-Waal University, the Bionics M.Sc. emphasizes applied teaching and learning with small class sizes, and includes integrated internship/placement requirements to prepare graduates for the international job market.
