About the Program

Biology is formally divided into botany, zoology, physiology and microbiology as well as overarching disciplines such as genetics, ecology and molecular biology. The aim of the teacher training programme is to enable students to teach biology in a modern, experimentally based way. Initially, all subject areas are covered, with specialization options in advanced studies. Biology didactics provides insight into the what, how and why of teaching and learning. The program follows the Jena model, which includes a five-month school placement semester in the fifth or sixth semester. Students study two subjects on equal footing and complete an Educational Science program. A total of 300 credit points (ECTS) must be earned.
