About the Program

The Bachelor's program in Biology provides the fundamentals from various sub-fields of biology: cell biology and biochemistry, evolution, genetics and molecular biology, physiology, morphology, systematics, microbiology, developmental biology, ecology and infection biology, as well as from the neighboring sciences chemistry and physics. In addition, emphasis is placed on imparting knowledge about data collection, processing and presentation (Data Science). The elective area offers the opportunity to specialize within a biological sub-field. A free elective area also provides insights into the offerings of the entire University of Hamburg. The program concludes with an independent research project, the bachelor's thesis.
