About the Program

Bioinformatics develops algorithms and software to simulate biochemical processes and analyze molecular biological data. The accredited Bachelor's program in Bioinformatics provides scientific basic qualification in bioinformatics as well as fundamental knowledge in biosciences and computer science. Graduates should be able to understand problems and questions in bioinformatics and its applications, model them mathematically, and apply scientific methods and findings from computer science to these problems. The degree can be obtained in two different specializations: 'Methodical Bioinformatics' (CMB - Computational Molecular Biology) or 'Applied Bioinformatics' (BI - Bioinformatics). Bioinformaticians find employment opportunities primarily at universities, research institutes, bioinformatics and biotech companies, as well as medium and large pharmaceutical companies.
