Behindertenpädagogik [Special Needs Education]Special Needs Education

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The continuing education Master's program "Special Needs Education" qualifies students to (co-)design the participation of people with disabilities in education and upbringing processes. The aim of the program is also to enable students to identify and remove barriers in general teaching and learning arrangements. The study includes, for example, dealing with national and international concepts and theories on education and upbringing under difficult conditions and disability. In addition, various counseling models are examined and existing standards at the administrative and procedural level are analyzed. This should enable students to plan and design concrete didactic and methodological interventions based on diagnostics. Graduates work primarily in day care centers, schools, homes, or counseling centers for people with physical, mental, or emotional disabilities. They are also active in outpatient social services such as mobile nursing care.
