About the Program

The Assyriology (Ancient Near East Studies) degree programme focusses on the Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian and Hittite cultures in their entire impressive diversity. The aim of Assyriology is the study of the languages, scripts, history, religions, literature, economy, science, society, legal system, and material relics of the ancient Near East. Along with other material relics, cuneiform documents serve as major sources. It is mandatory to choose a minor subject in combination with this Master programme.
