About the Program

The degree programme in Social Work prepares students to support people in challenging circumstances, assist them in sorting their lives, and help them to help themselves. Students engage with societal developments and social problems, learn about and apply theories and methods of social work, familiarize themselves with legal, economic and socio-political frameworks, and develop their own professional self-perception. The program qualifies graduates to work with individuals and families, groups and communities, and urban and rural authorities, focusing on stabilizing the social fabric and overcoming or avoiding predicaments. Throughout the first three semesters, students learn basic theoretical principles and application-focused skills. The fourth and fifth semesters are devoted to practical skills and an internship. During the final two semesters, students enhance their knowledge in their personal choice of majors. Graduates receive the academic title Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and the right to use the professional title 'state-certified social educationalist'.
