About the Program

Global Health is an interdisciplinary field that aims to improve health and health equity worldwide. Students acquire knowledge in global health, global clinical care, non-communicable diseases, maternal and child health, infectious disease prevention, healthcare systems, development policy, humanitarian aid, food security, One Health, risk assessment and management, and Sustainable Development Goals. The program enables students to make decisions about health interventions based on scientific findings while considering environmental, socio-cultural, political, economic and ethical factors. It is offered by the University of Bonn in cooperation with the Institute for Environment and Human Security (EHS) at the United Nations University (UNU), involving the Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Agricultural, Nutritional, and Engineering Sciences, and Center for Development Research. The program contributes to protecting, promoting and restoring health through collaboration based on health equity, human rights and cultural sensitivity, with a special focus on adapted clinical care and One Health.
