About the Program

The MA in Labor, Economy and Society (Economic and Sociological Studies) prepares students for academic work in the fields of sociology and economics in a variety of social sectors. It offers a research-oriented program in which students are not only able to deepen their knowledge of sociology and economics, but also to apply the methods of quantitative and qualitative empirical social research as well as of empirical business research. A particular feature of the master's program is the focus on the interdisciplinary field of socioeconomics, which addresses the social consequences of economic activity as well as the social influences on economic activities. The program comprises seven modules: theory, methods, research, socioeconomics specialization (socioeconomics of labor/markets, globalization, sustainability/welfare, state, integration), and final module. The socioeconomic research module forms the focus and includes the learning workshop held in the second and third semesters.
