Applied Polymer Chemistry MasterApplied Polymer Chemistry

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

Modern polymer chemistry encompasses far more than cheap mass-produced plastics: Polymers are customized, high-tech, multifunctional, and recyclable materials with diverse applications. For this reason, polymers are becoming increasingly important in the chemical industry. While globally polymers account for about one-fifth of the chemical industry, few students in Europe are trained as specialists in the field of polymers. The Master's program in Bio-based Polymer Chemistry addresses this gap to qualify more graduates with in-depth knowledge in this important subfield of chemistry. Students are taught in-depth competencies and methods of macromolecular chemistry, polymer analytics, and polymer reaction technology. Future topics of the chemical industry are also part of the curriculum, such as renewable raw materials, material cycles, and process simulation. The program is aligned with industry needs to prepare graduates for key positions in industry. Additionally, completion of the program qualifies graduates to pursue doctoral studies.
