Applied Philosophy*

Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The goal of the Bachelor's program 'Applied Philosophy' is to orient the various areas of philosophy towards non-academic career goals (and not primarily towards the internal goals of the discipline of philosophy). The philosophical teaching content is accordingly prepared and conveyed so that implications of philosophical questions and their proposed solutions for everyday life, pedagogical, social, political, and scientific discourses are emphasized, and the technical and content competence is conveyed to analyze, reconstruct, critically evaluate one's own and others' arguments in such discourses, and to be able to constructively participate in finding consensus as a participant in dialogue with others. 'Applied Philosophy' therefore fundamentally means a correspondingly structured approach to all areas of philosophy. In addition, the program also includes a content profile through its specific focus on applied philosophy in the narrower sense of the field of 'Applied Ethics'. As a scientific follow-up qualification, the Master's program 'Philosophy' (2-subject Master) is offered.
