About the Program

Since 2016, the Academy of Fine Arts Leipzig (HGB) has been offering the Academy for Transcultural Exchange (AtA), the first study program in Germany for refugees in the field of fine arts and graphic design. The AtA program comprises four semesters (two years) and offers refugees the opportunity to prepare for a regular course of study in one of the four diploma programs at the HGB Leipzig (Book design/Graphic design, Photography, Painting/Printmaking, Media Art). The coursework completed in the program can be credited towards a later degree at the HGB Leipzig. The program includes art-specific German language courses. After successful participation, students can apply for admission to the basic study program or one of the specialized classes of the main study program to obtain their diploma degree. The AtA program itself does not grant a degree.
