What are the most common reasons for uni-assist rejections?

uni-assist does not publish statistics on the most common rejection reasons, but the rules show where a negative result can come from: missing documents, an entrance qualification (HZB) that does not fit the chosen subject, and process mistakes. The admission decision is always the university's.

#1. Documents

• Certificates not uploaded in the original language together with a certified German or English translation.
• For Turkish school leavers: the Lise Diploması uploaded without the YKS placement page (university, faculty, score type).

#2. HZB does not match the subject

• The school certificate alone is not enough. A 12-year general Lise plus a YKS score above 180 in SAY, SÖZ, EA or DİL plus placement in a Lisans programme of at least 4 years at a faculty gives subject-restricted access to the placed subject and related subjects. Applying for an unrelated subject can fail; the university decides what counts as related.
• Placement at a Yüksekokul gives access to Fachhochschulen only.
• According to the DAAD admission database, a Lise graduate without the YKS, or with only a TYT result, cannot be admitted.

#3. Process

• The uni-assist deadline is the university's deadline; late applications may not be processed.
• A VPD is not an admission: without the direct application to the university afterwards, nothing is complete.
• Fees (€75 for the first course, €30 for each additional course in the same semester) are charged regardless of the result.
