What are the admission requirements to study in Germany?

You need a higher-education entrance qualification (HZB) recognised in Germany, plus the language and any programme-specific requirements set by the university. Each university defines the exact rules for its own programmes.

#1. Entrance qualification (HZB)

For Turkish applicants, the Lise Diploması alone is not enough; anabin assesses it together with the YKS result and placement:

• General Lise, more than 180 points in SAY, SÖZ, EA or DİL, and placement in a Lisans programme of at least 4 years at a faculty: direct, subject-restricted access without a Studienkolleg.
• Meslek Lisesi with more than 180 points: subject-oriented Studienkolleg, then the Feststellungsprüfung.
• Completed Önlisans with more than 150 TYT points: direct access to your previous field and related subjects.
• Completed Lisans of at least 4 years: access to all subjects.

Without placement there is no general route; the university or the Land authority decides.

#2. Language

Which language and which level you need depends on the programme's language of instruction and is set by the university. Admission to a Studienkolleg requires proof of German.

#3. How to apply

• Not every university uses uni-assist. Where it does, the fee is 75 € for the first programme and 30 € for each additional one in the same semester.
• Some universities require a VPD. A VPD is not an admission; you still apply to the university before its deadline.
