Studienkolleg or a direct bachelor's — which is more advantageous?
It is not really your choice: whether you go through a Studienkolleg or can apply directly for a bachelor's is set by the access route anabin assigns to your Turkish qualifications. Your school certificate alone never decides; the YKS result, your placement and any study periods in Türkiye are assessed together. The university has the final say.
Direct bachelor's (no Studienkolleg)
- 12-year general Lise + YKS score above 180 in SAY, SÖZ, EA or DİL + placement in a Lisans programme of at least 4 years at a faculty → direct access to the placed subject and related subjects. You do not need to enrol in Türkiye.
- Completed Önlisans + TYT above 150, or two successful years at an Açıköğretim faculty → subject-restricted direct access.
- Completed Lisans (at least 4 years) → all subjects.
Studienkolleg route
- Meslek Lisesi + above 180 points → subject-oriented Studienkolleg; one successful Lisans year in Türkiye gives direct access instead.
- Only one year at a 2-year MYO → Studienkolleg for Fachhochschulen only.
- A Studienkolleg lasts two semesters and ends with the FSP.
Watch out
- No TestAS score and no DAAD scholarship exempts you from the Studienkolleg.
- Without a placement, or below the threshold, no general route is defined; the university or competent Land authority decides.
