Can I get unconditional master's admission in Germany with Goethe B2?
It depends entirely on the programme: there is no Germany-wide rule that "B2 is enough" or "C1 is required" for a master's. The university and programme decide which language certificates they accept and at what level.
German-taught programmes
- Many ask for DSH or TestDaF; whether a Goethe certificate is accepted, and at which level, varies by programme.
- If you meet the level the programme requires, unconditional admission is possible; if not, the university's own rules decide what happens.
English-taught programmes
- Here the English proof (e.g. IELTS/TOEFL) and any German requirement are set by the programme. Some ask for no German at all.
Conditional admission (bedingte Zulassung)
- Some universities admit you on condition that you meet the language requirement later. What that condition involves follows the university's rules.
- According to the German missions in Türkiye, the university's own language exam is the binding threshold, and a new application may be needed once you meet the language requirement.
What to do
Read the "Sprachnachweis" section of your target programme and check in writing whether Goethe B2 is accepted. If in doubt, ask the university's international office.
