How do I get a Tax ID (Steuer-ID) and how long does it take to arrive?
You don't directly request your Tax ID (Steuer-ID) from the Finanzamt (tax office). After you register your address (Anmeldung) in Germany, the registration office automatically forwards your information to the Finanzamt, and your Steuer-ID is then sent to your registered address by mail. This process usually takes a few weeks. It's always a good idea to confirm current processing times with your local authorities.
