What is Anmeldung, and do you have to do it as soon as you arrive in Germany?

Anmeldung is the process of registering your address at the Bürgeramt (municipal registration office) once you settle in Germany. It is mandatory within 14 days of arriving in Germany.

#Which Address is Used for Anmeldung?

• ✗ Workplace address — only a living address is valid

#Problem: Name Discrepancy in Passport

• Small differences in name between visa acceptance letter and passport can be an issue.
