About the Program

Business Information Systems is an interdisciplinary study program that combines concepts of business administration and economics with computer science. Through the study, students develop a critical and integrated view of business information systems methods and tools and their possible applications. Students learn to analyze and plan business information and communication systems, analyze, structure and model company data and business processes, design application systems in practice, and optimize and design business processes through IT use. The application-oriented part of the study uses project-related teaching methods and computer-supported exercises to impart knowledge. The core subject Business Information Systems is strongly represented at MLU Halle-Wittenberg with three professorships, which enables broad training in the basics and special areas of the subject. Special focus areas include: E-Business, IT security and web engineering, Information, business process and knowledge management, Simulation and applied optimization, Networks and transport logistics.
