Textile Structures and Technologies

Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.)

About the Program

When you hear the word textiles, do you think simply of fashion? Or are you ready to imagine a world of textiles with special functions – smart textiles that show your mood by changing colour or which react to warmth, humidity and light? And textiles for use beyond clothing, in cars and planes or in medical contexts? Then our Bachelor's program in Textile Structures and Technologies is for you. Textile technology is high tech and perfect for Germany as an industrial centre. During the first three semesters you'll learn basic technical knowledge about textile raw materials and leather, about textile finishing and about essential aspects of the textile production chain. In addition, the first part of the program also includes modules dealing with engineering and business. To adapt the course specifically to your interests, you can choose one of two special focuses: "Functional Textiles" or "Textile- and Leather-based Automobile Components". Plus, the course is structured so that you can continue on seamlessly with the corresponding Master's program at the Technical University of Chemnitz.
