About the Program

The contemporary theater is subject to diverse structural and paradigm shifts. The acting training at HfMDK aims to account for these developments. The goal is to foster a creative acting personality who masters classical and modern techniques of acting, can reflect on aesthetic positions and their own contemporaneity in artistic, historical and social terms, and takes responsibility and initiative as a soloist and ensemble player. Since 2017, third-year students are integrated into theater work during the "Studio Year Acting" for one season. The program includes both participation in repertoire productions and the development of their own studio productions. Students work under professional conditions with renowned directors, gaining valuable experience for their future careers. The program is part of the Hessian Theater Academy, ensuring practical proximity to Hessian theaters and interdisciplinary collaboration with other performing arts training areas.
