RaumstrategienSpatial Strategies

Master of Arts (M.A.)

About the Program

The Spatial Strategies program (Raumstrategien) deals with space in the broadest sense - at the intersection of architecture, design, society and artistic practice. It addresses major challenges of our time such as digitalization, social justice, migration, and climate neutrality; these aspects are addressed through aesthetic work in image, space, object, and installation. The program focuses on the relationships between space and people, designing effective space-human relationships. Students learn to develop design competencies at the image, communication, and implementation levels for independent work in this transdisciplinary field. The boundaries between real and virtual space are fluid. The study is interdisciplinary and prepares for a wide field of practical activities - in scenographic work for the design of interior and exterior spaces such as exhibitions or stage spaces, but also for the design of new formats for urban transformation. The program includes specializations: BA Scenography/Interior Design (8 semesters) and MA Spatial Strategies (4 semesters).
