About the Program

The Bachelor's degree programme 'Orchestra Instruments Artistic' at HfM Würzburg prepares graduates for a working life in changing professional fields as well as for further specialization in corresponding master's degree courses. The central objective is developing an independent and discerning artistic personality, including sound playing technique on a professional level, development of individual musical ideas, and orientation along interpretive ideals. Graduates gain a broad overview of concert literature for their instrument, study works in various styles (including contemporary music), and learn to perform complex works convincingly. Chamber music plays a central role, with students gaining practical musical skills in various ensembles from duo to larger groups. Students also acquire a solid foundation in music theory and gain experience beyond their principal instrument. The program prepares graduates for professional artistic activities in opera, symphony, or chamber orchestras, as well as freelance work in solo and chamber music, specialized ensembles, and other musical formations. Graduates develop self-marketing and self-management skills essential for professional success.
