About the Program

At the Institute for Music Theater (IMT), qualified music theater artists are trained for today's performance world. The program offers undergraduate studies with stage training from the start of the course for aspiring music theater performers. Students receive vocal training from internationally renowned professors. The curriculum includes subjects such as musical part studies, stagecraft instruction, acting training, improvisation, dance, speech training, stage fighting, audition techniques as well as musical theater history and aesthetics. The training includes an eight-semester bachelor's degree, four-semester master's degree, and four-semester degree program for Opera Soloists. Students participate in music theater productions with orchestras, children's opera productions, experimental music theater, and regular evening workshops. The program collaborates with the Baden-Baden Festival Theater, the Schwetzingen Festival, the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival, and Baden State Theater in Karlsruhe. The International Opera Studio, implemented with the Baden State Theater, offers advanced students opportunities to be involved in day-to-day work of a first-class theater.
