Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.)

About the Program

Music theory students are integrated into the Centre of Music Theory, where a lively event culture is cultivated both inside and outside the university. In addition to music theory lessons, students enjoy individual lessons in composition for the duration of their studies. These composition lessons can be supplemented during the course of studies by jazz, rock, pop composition and lessons in the Studio for Electronic Music. The preparation for teaching is promoted by the teaching of methodology/teaching practice; the students are integrated into the university teaching in a qualifying way. The preparation for an academic career is additionally deepened by regular music-theoretical lecture evenings and concerts in which students present their scientific and artistic skills. Furthermore, particularly suitable students have the opportunity to earn a doctorate in music theory directly after completing their bachelor's degree at the Dresden University of Music.
