Master of Music (M.Mus.)

About the Program

The Master's program in Sound Art Composition (M.Mus.) teaches students to understand sounds as multi-layered artistic material, as an interplay of sound, space, time, movement, and form. From static sculpture to scenic performance, students develop their own sound art language. The program builds on the latest developments in intermediary music and art understanding that has evolved dynamically in recent decades. At this intersection of new music, electronic composition, sound art, audiovisual art, and radiophonic art (Ars Acustica), students receive comprehensive artistic training. At the highest level, they explore and develop compositional approaches with a focus on spatial and intermediary composition strategies. The program is aimed at both musicians and artists, and even Bachelor graduates from other fields (e.g., Design, Musicology, etc.) can apply with sufficient artistic aptitude.
