Music - Jazz and popular music

Master of Music (M.Mus.)

About the Program

Jazz was and is the melting pot of music of the 20th and 21st centuries. It combines opposites and brings together elements from classical, pop, and folkloric influences to new music. A central point of your studies is communication with and through music: the individual development of artistic expression, based on solid craftsmanship skills and the resulting musical conversation culture. On this basis, you continuously develop your ability to improvise as a jazz musician. You are versatile, open and adaptable, but also unconventional and individualistic - a powerful combination. A special feature at the School of Music at JGU are the various artistic cooperation projects from which you benefit during your studies, such as the Jazzcampus, SWR Jazz College, or the Jazzforum.
