Bachelor of Music (B.Mus.)

About the Program

Elementary Music Education (EMP) focuses on making music with people of all ages, with or without prior musical knowledge. The program involves artistic creation with voice, body, and instruments. It emphasizes the goals, content, and methods of elementary music-making, experimenting, and designing with different age and target groups. The eight-semester Bachelor of Music program provides a dual qualification in Elementary Music Education and an instrumental main subject (Classical or Jazz and Popular Music) or vocal main subject (Classical). Students develop versatile competencies covering a broad spectrum of artistic-pedagogical forms of expression: voice, rhythm, body, movement, dance, improvisation, and (elementary) instrumental playing. The program combines practical work with scientific examination of goals, content, and methods in artistic-pedagogical work with children, adolescents, and adults. Close supervision by lecturers, strong practical orientation, and cooperation with music schools, kindergartens, primary schools, social institutions, and senior centers complete the study program.
