About the Program

Medicine is the study of the prevention, detection and treatment of disease and injury in humans. Physicians aim to restore and maintain the health of patients. In medical school, you will receive scientific and practical training. The program consists of a pre-clinical section (first 4 semesters) focusing on scientific and theoretical basics, followed by a clinical section (6 semesters) covering pathology, pharmacology, and clinical subjects. After these sections, students complete a practical year (PJ) in surgery, internal medicine, and an additional subject of choice. The Upper Franconia Medical Campus is a collaborative project where students start in Erlangen and relocate to Bayreuth for the clinical stage.
