Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering ATLANTIS

Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

About the Program

The Transatlantic Double Bachelor's Degree Program in Materials Science and Mechanical Engineering ATLANTIS aims to enable students to solve problems of a materials science and mechanical engineering nature using modern scientific and technical methods. At the same time, the program provides early, practice-oriented professional skills as an engineer in industry and business. In the eight-semester bachelor's program, students first receive solid basic training in the core engineering and natural science subjects of mechanics, material properties, and thermodynamics. Knowledge in mathematics, chemistry, and physics is also provided as a foundation for advanced lectures. Later, all students are trained in the relationships between structures, properties, and treatment, and in the technology of metals, polymers, glass, and ceramics. The theory and practice of integrating materials into the production process are also covered. The first three years are completed in Saarbrücken. In the fourth year (7th and 8th semesters), students have the opportunity to complete their studies with a stay at Oregon State University and earn a degree from an American university. The program can also be completed entirely in six semesters at Saarland University. This is a cooperation programme between Saarland University, Germany and Oregon State University, USA. Students from UdS do not pay the regular tuition fees at OSU.
