About the Program

The four-semester Master of Education program in Music Education for Gymnasium aims at teaching in gymnasiums and community schools, preferably with upper secondary level. It forms the basis for the teaching internship (Referendariat). The program focuses on the current tasks of music education in the school environment. The artistic-practical training is deepened with a special focus on applied piano playing and school music practice. Students can choose an additional artistic subject over all four semesters to sharpen their personal artistic profile and expand their music education expertise. Central components are several school internships with different focuses, conducted at local schools. Students can test themselves in teaching practice in secondary levels I and II and are individually guided and intensively prepared for the teaching profession. In the modules Educational Sciences and Music Pedagogy, as well as in the final module (Master's thesis), students deepen their scientific competencies, which also qualify them for doctoral studies.
