Landscape Architecture and Landscape Planning

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

The central challenges facing our society are climate change, the decline in biodiversity, socio-ecological transformations and health. Those who choose this Master's degree program will deal with these challenges scientifically and develop creative and innovative concepts for a sustainable and liveable environment in urban and rural areas. The profile of the Master's degree program is research-oriented and qualifies students for scientific work as well as reflective planning and design. An important goal of this degree is to obtain the so-called "chamber qualification", as only members of the chambers of architects and planners have access to all professional opportunities. Based on current issues from research and practice, in-depth basic knowledge is taught at the University of Kassel over four semesters. Four Master's specializations contribute to an individual study profile: "Landscape Architecture and Open Space Planning", "Landscaping and Plant Use", "Environmental Planning and Landscape Management" and "Urban Planning / Urban Design".
