Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The Art Science program at HBK Braunschweig offers a full-time study where aesthetic phenomena and art science models are critically reflected and related to contemporary artistic and design practice. The focus on contemporary art is central but is based on solid art historical foundations and knowledge of the historical-systematic prerequisites of the discipline. The Bachelor's program provides a foundation for careers in gallery, exhibition, auction, and publication fields. The Master's program builds on the knowledge and qualifications of the completed Bachelor's studies, deepening professional competencies and guiding students toward independent scientific work. The program has three focus areas: 'Speaking and Writing', 'Perceiving', and 'Showing'. It includes practical components in the field of curating and visits to workshops and plenary sessions of Fine Arts. After completing the Master's degree, graduates can pursue careers in museums, publishing houses, exhibition venues, and galleries. A subsequent doctorate opens the way to a scientific career.
