Künstlerisches Lehramt mit Bildender KunstFine Arts Education

Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.)

About the Program

The Artistic Teaching Degree with Visual Arts (Künstlerisches Lehramt mit Bildender Kunst) prepares students for the diverse and demanding professional field as art teachers at gymnasiums. The teaching degree program is structured in two stages: a primarily subject-specific bachelor's phase and a master's phase tailored to pedagogical aspects. Like the study of Fine Arts, the teaching degree program is characterized by independent artistic work in the class. The development of one's own artistic self-understanding is at the center of the studies, which, in connection with subject-didactic and educational science content and school internships, forms a foundation for later teaching design at school. As an alternative to a second scientific subject (e.g., German or Mathematics), Intermedial Design (IMG) can be chosen in the Artistic Teaching Degree.
