Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

About the Program

The Art Teaching for High Schools program is similar in content and goals to the Fine Arts program. Students can supplement this area through interdisciplinary studies in design (such as typography) and in the Spatial Strategies program. The study begins with two semesters of basic artistic training (Basisklasse). Afterwards, students can specialize in one of the following areas: Painting, Graphics, Sculpture, Ceramics, Media Art, and Interdisciplinary Artistic Practice. Prospective art teachers study two subjects: Art at Muthesius University of Fine Arts and a second subject at Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel (CAU). Additionally, art didactics and art pedagogy studies take place at CAU's Art History Institute, and cross-disciplinary educational theory training at CAU's Teacher Training Center. School-relevant courses prepare students for the specific requirements of teachers.
