About the Program
The University Course 'Clinical Art Therapy' at Sigmund Freud PrivatUniversity Berlin is a 6-semester program that concludes with a Master of Arts (Continuing Education) degree. It is offered on a scientific basis with a practice-oriented approach. Art therapeutic interventions and forms of expression can be used to treat emotional, psychological, and social problems. Art therapy is based on the assumption that artistic expression represents a non-verbal form of communication and helps to express, process, and understand inner feelings and conflicts. The training includes working on the backgrounds of disturbed or canceled life patterns and images, and making them accessible with visual-practical methods. Students are brought into contact with clinical-rehabilitative practice from the beginning and are supervised in this process in a practice-oriented manner. The program is continuously accompanied by artistic, material-aesthetic-oriented and (psycho-)therapeutic self-experiences, which can be considered as a further basis in the training process.
