About the Program

The Master of Music Chamber Music program requires high instrumental technical skills and well-developed artistic expression. Students apply as ensembles and complete their studies together. Eligible ensembles include string trio, string quartet, piano trio, and piano quartet, with other formations requiring special application. Individual instruction focuses on ensemble playing. The program aims to enable students to meet the specific requirements of ensemble playing professionally. Skills such as mutual listening, precision in playing, and spontaneous reaction are fundamental and are complemented by solid knowledge in music theory and musicology. Graduates should be able to analyze and evaluate chamber music literature, developing their own approaches and interpretations, and independently work on new literature. The core element of the curriculum is the development and implementation of personal interpretation concepts, which is the subject of regular ensemble instruction under guidance and in discourse with the respective lecturers in the central module. The program consists of 4 semesters (120 credits).
