Integrated Urban Development and Design_Reflective Urban Practice

Master of Science (M.Sc.)

About the Program

The Master Programme 'Integrated Urban Development and Design' (IUDD) trains students to develop abilities to react to transformation processes typical for the beginning of the 21st century. The programme aims to train local and international 'curators for urban space' through a combination of spatial scientific-analytical and urban developmental-design oriented education as well as through an integrated practical component. The programme deepens, expands and applies technical and methodological skills in the context of international perspectives and enables interdisciplinary work. In the 'Reflective Urban Practice' study focus, students apply theoretical knowledge in practice through Model Projects in the third semester, which involves a supervised compulsory internship in architecture and urban design or planning offices, research institutions or municipalities. The programme is committed to define, analyse, include and streamline diverse factors in the sense of Integrated Urban Development as a holistic approach and its linkages to urban design in metropolitan as well as rural-urban contexts.
